[Movies] Theatres Saying No to The Hurt Locker Posted by Chris Lansdell on 03.10.2010
Despite the award wins, cinemas aren't bringing it back...
Summit Entertainment is trying to get the multi-Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker back into cinemas. Problem is, the cinemas are not interested. As an example, Regal Theatres turned the movie down outright not because of the film itself, but because it is already available on DVD.
Would you go and see the movie on the big screen now?
I wanted to see it the first time, but am also a poor college student owing 20k in student loans with a job that gives me 12 hours a week. I'd still consider seeing it as it looks quite good, and seeing any movie on the big screen is still quite the experience. I bet they'd get a decent number of viewers.

Yeah, but I'm probably in the minority who hasn't seen it yet. I can see why most would deny it though.

No, I have it on Blu-Ray which will be a better quality print then what the film is now.

This movie got the sympathy vote at the Oscars. Nobody saw it, nobody cares.

Seen this lastnight it's a good movie but it's not as great as everybody thinks

I saw it via Netflix last month? So why would I go see it?
I think the movie is overrated. I would have been pissed off if I paid to see it. The lack of action in a "real time" war movie is lackluster.

i bet if it was in 3d the theaters would want it.

Well sounds like they just missed the boat on that one. If its out on DVD already most likely means it can be rented and people will not come out to spend the money in the theatre when they can just stay home and watch it.
And i am told its a good movie but an Oscar win can only do so much. You would think the bigger money maker is the repackaging and slapping on the dvd cover/advertising that it won best picture and should be a must own.
